retire
This pot is about a hundred years old. They've made soap in it, washed clothes over a fire, cooked food in it -- in short, I suppose, a highly durable, multipurpose household utensil, still useful after all that.

man makes off with jacket not his own
I found a jacket near the bus stop the other day and left it there, thinking its owner might come back for it soon. Unfortunately, another fellow came along after me, picked up the jacket, examined it, and carried it away. Raleigh used to be such a nice Southern town. A person could leave almost anything lying around, return later, and find it still lying there. If it had been touched at all, perhaps someone had tried to identify its owner so they could return it. Unhappily those days seem to be gone. Nowadays you had better not leave anything lying around if you don't want it to be taken.
